Medieval pottery in the Jena suburb

September 2016 – February 2017

Special exhibition

In 2013 and 2015, significant remains of medieval pottery were found and recovered during excavations in Jena's Neugasse - in the area of the medieval suburb "Zweifelbach". The archaeologists not only found huge quantities of shards, but also a considerable number of complete or almost complete vessels from the middle of the 14th or the second half of the 15th century.

Together with the State Office for Monument Preservation and Archaeology, the Bürgel Ceramics Museum is showing the range of products of late medieval pottery that can be seen on the basis of the finds.

In collaboration with the State Office for Monument Preservation and Archaeology.

The accompanying catalogue for the exhibition is available for 5 euros.
